Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. She is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. She was only a young toddler when her father who was employed as the carnival barker, passed away. Her mother was forced to take on jobs like waitressing, cleaning and washing. Ruth was raised in the poor tenement district of Boston, Massachusetts, where she was educated. She quit school in just two years, to go into acting. The path she chose to take turned out to be fraught with difficulties: in New York, she obtained the opportunity to pose as stills in a magazine for crime However, the stage was not a match for her. While in New York, she was employed at a bar as the check-in lady before resigning after a few months and moving to Boston. In Boston, she earned a living working as an usherette during the in the daytime, while at night she was a part of the New England Repertory Company. It was her first role as an actor. She also completed her studies at Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she studied drama.
